90 Day Fiancé: Full List of Spin-Offs and Which Ones are the Best

The number of 90 Day Fiancé spinoffs continues to grow, and I’ve gotten a lot of questions as to what the different spin-offs are, when they air, and if they’re worth watching at all.

It’s difficult to navigate all this garbage television and know which trash belongs in your DVR ‘delete’ pile vs. which trash will fill you with joy.

I’m here to sift through all of these spinoffs so you know what we cover for the podcast, and which spin-offs we think are worth watching.

I have also power-ranked this list of 90 Day Fiancé Franchise spin-offs, so you know which ones I like the most. :-)

#1 - 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days

Screen Shot 2019-06-01 at 12.36.39 PM.png

What is it? This delightful spin-off finds the craziest Americans who have met a foreigner online that they think they want to marry, usually via some sketchy website like FilipinoCupid.com or ILoveLatinas.com

The kicker? These people have never met in person. We typically watch an American go to an airport, and subsequently overseas (usually for the first time in their lives) to meet their significant other in their home country.

These couples aren’t engaged, but the American usually expects to propose (or accept a proposal) when they go to their boyfriend/ girlfriend’s country.

When is it? This spinoff typically starts in late summer/ early fall, just before the regular 90 Day Fiancé season starts.

Is it good? Yes. Imagine a redneck from Georgia traveling to Nigeria, or a guy from Dayton going to Asia via a 40-hour flight. These Americans have absolutely no idea how to operate overseas and it is completely delightful to watch.

This is by far my favorite spinoff by far (although I write this just before The Other Way starts!)

How many seasons? Started in 2017, two seasons. I expect Season 3 to start in late summer/ early fall 2019.

Do we recap it on the podcast? Yes.

#2 - 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way (TOW)

Screen Shot 2019-06-01 at 12.50.08 PM.png

What is it? I’m taking a pretty big risk listing this spin-off in the #2 spot, because I’ve only seen one episode. But I do think this show is going to be incredible in the trashiest of ways.

Rather than bring the fiancé to the US, this spinoff features an American going overseas to live with their spouse-to-be - permanently. In Season 1 we see Americans go to Ecuador, India, Qatar, South Africa, South Korea, and Brazil. I love that we’ll get to see such a diverse set of countries!

When is it? The first season is (suspiciously) overlapping with Happily Ever After and airing during the summer, starting in June.

Is it good? I hope so! Based on the 45 minutes I’ve seen so far, it’s going to be the greatest of train wrecks.

How many seasons? Season 1 starts June 4, 2019!

Do we recap it on the podcast? Yes.

#3 -90 Day Fiancé (The Original)

Screen Shot 2019-06-01 at 12.32.00 PM.png

What is it? This is the OG 90 Day Fiancé. Couples bring their foreign fiancés to the United States, and the 90 Day countdown starts when they land in their fiancé’s American hometown.

When is it? It typically starts in the fall, although there have been casting issues in 2019 since K1 visas have tightened up. I’m hoping we’ll see Season 7 start around October. Every season since Season 2 has started in October.

Is it good? Yes, of course. This is what started the entire franchise.

How many seasons? Started in 2014, and has run for 6 season so far.

Do we recap it on the podcast? Yes.

#4 - 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After (HEA)

What is it? This spinoff follows couples who were on the regular 90 Day Fiancé show, got married, and are now miserable. The season usually drones on too long, and viewers don’t love it, but watch begrudgingly because in the past there was no other 90 Day content while this shit-show airs.

When is it? Typically starts in May, airing before ‘Before the 90 Days.’

Is it good? Not really. Fans typically start out watching, but lose interest by mid-season. A lot of people complain about this spin-off, and I think it should be combined with What Now?

How many seasons? Four Seasons. Started in 2016 in order to follow Danielle around and get more super cringey content with Mohammed.

Do we recap it on the podcast? Yes.

#5 - 90 Day Fiancé: What Now?

What Now.PNG

What is it? This is shockingly similar to Happily Ever After in that it follows couples that were previously on the show and now married (usually). What Now? is different than Happily Ever After because tons of couples are cast, but only get about 10-15 minutes of airtime each. I really wish TLC would combine Happily Ever After and What Now? because it’s really confusing.

When is it? Crap shoot. TLC usually sells this as a web series, but then airs it on regular TV and tacks is onto the end of Happily Ever After. Generally has the same airing schedule as Happily Ever After.

Is it good? Kind of? There are some couples I like to get updates on so I’ll watch those parts.

How many seasons? Three Seasons. Started in 2017 and is currently in it’s third season at the time of this post.

Do we recap it on the podcast? Kind of. On the TLC Go app where it was originally released, they had episodes by couple. We watched and recapped the couples we were interested in.

#6 - The Family Chantel

What is it? Don’t ask me how Chantel, Pedro and the rest of Family Chantel

When is it? This spin-off was rumored for the summer, but with Happily Ever After and The Other Way airing this summer, I’d be surprised to see it this summer. I actually have no idea when they might launch this one.

Is it good? I haven’t seen it yet, but I would think it would be pretty boring as it won’t have the benefit of different couples.

How many seasons? Season 1 starts… sometime soon?

Do we cover on the podcast? This spin-off is still rumored and hasn’t aired yet (although one of the producers on the show has reached out to me, so I know it’s real), but we don’t anticipate to cover it on the podcast.

#7 - Pillow Talk

pillow talk.PNG

What is it? Pillow Talk isn’t necessarily a ‘spin-off’ but rather a show where we watch previous 90 Day couples watch Happily Ever After and comment. I literally think this show was invented to make Happily Ever After more interesting, or at least watchable.

When is it? This Season 1 of Pillow Talk started in correlation with Season 4 HEA (May 2019). I don’t know if they will do it for all the 90 Day shows.

Is it good? It’s actually really hilarious.

How many seasons? This is the first season

Do we cover on the podcast? It’s hard to do a recap of a recap, so we don’t cover it on the podcast.
